A Perfect Day Out in KLCC for Travelers

One of the fun things people must do in Kuala Lumpur is arranging an outing with their family or fellow travelers.  This city always offers variety of activities to do during weekends and also weekdays. If they cannot make it during daytime, they can instead go for it at night.

A perfect outing involves a venue that is active the whole day, and for that, one should pick Kuala Lumpur City Centre or KLCC. This area is fully funded by Malaysian national petroleum and gas company, Petronas. Getting to KLCC is very easily; one just simply needs to take the low transit railway or LRT train and stop at KLCC station. From there, climb up the elevator and they will be inside of it already. Instead, if they’re coming with a car that they drive on your own, there is a spacious and comfortable parking underneath the basements. They can collect the ticket at the parking entrance, or simply pass through using a Touch N Go card, which is much easier to use since they won’t have to find an Autopay machine later.

Usually, people spend the morning checking out the outlets inside Suria KLCC shopping mall. Many interesting items are on sale and they know they won’t find them anywhere else. If they’re feeling hungry, there are touch-screen directory maps provided that will help guide them on restaurants available, even a food court with selections of local and foreign food. This shopping mall also holds a cinema for people who wish to watch movies instead of shopping. The biggest bookstore is also here, known as Kinokuniya, where the bookworms can find various of books even in foreign languages. Facilities such as a clinic, banks, money changers, and washrooms can also be located easily here just by following the signs hanging from the top of the hallways.

Since they are already inside Suria KLCC, they surely would visit Galeri Petronas. This non-profit art gallery is a home of valuable masterpiece artworks and the exhibition changes every once in a while. A tour will be provided if needed to guide the visitors through the gallery, and it is guaranteed that they will be amazed seeing the artworks on display. The gallery is divided by sections, depending on the exhibition. There is also a locker service for visitors to keep their belongings just in case they don’t want to bring them along inside while they’re viewing the artworks on display. Galeri Petronas is established to nurture the growing interests of public towards art and it automatically becomes the favorite venue for many local and foreign artists to meet up and exchange their views and appreciation related to art. This gallery accepts any kind of contribution, even something as small as joining the art workshop hosted, or submitting one’s own artwork.

For people who come with children and they fancy science and technology, they can be brought to the highest floor and visit Petrosains. This discovery center will not just inspire the children with its interactive approach; it will also enlighten adults on science and technology related to Malaysia petroleum industry. Its main theme is all about Petronas, of course, the company that becomes the backbone of KLCC development. There is so much to see and experience inside that this two-level center will keep people entertained for a long time, from visualizing the exhibits, and also touching them with their own hands.

Speaking of entertainment, Aquaria KLCC is another place for them. There is a tunnel right under Suria KLCC that will lead them straight to it, by walking. At its entrance, there is a wall where they can freely leave their signature or remarks as a trace that they have been there. This oceanarium holds over 5000 of different aquatic and land exhibits, where visitors can walk along the underwater tunnel and view the ocean like walking in a park. The journey-like experience will take them from the misty highlands, down through the rivers, straight to the rainforest and mangroves, until they reach the coral reefs of the deep blue sea. This is an excellent way of educating the children on sea life, as it is not as boring as reading about it in a book. Visitors may also take a break by watching what is showing on a television inside the hall. Afterward, they can get some snack or drinks from the food court.

From Aquaria KLCC, they can also choose whether to exit to KLCC Park or visit KLCC Convention Centre. The two elevators will take them to those places depending on what they’re planning to do next.

KLCC Convention Centre is a complex with halls for conventions, seminars, and important events. If they’re fortunate to come here during some exhibitions or expos being held, they will be impressed to see how many things organized inside the halls. Big companies will arrange their booths to attract the people with their unique products, and they will be surprised to know of so many things have been invented for people’s comfort and ease. Many of these things are even cheaper than their original prices in the outlets, so it is strongly advised to get the things needed while they are being sold in the exhibitions.

If the weather allows it, KLCC Park is something that nobody should miss. This outdoor section of KLCC provides a green environment for its visitors and it is also the main reason of why it becomes a favorite meeting point for locals. It is complete with a section for jogging, picnic, and benches for people who wish to just sit and talk. For children who like to play with water, there is a place for them where they can enjoy playing with waves in shallow water. People who happen to be here will spend a little more time and wait for something magnificent at the fountain nearby. There is also a public toilet and a mosque provided for visitors.

Petronas Twin Towers makes a beautiful background when taking pictures. Standing here will make people feel so small, compared to the twin giant towers. They can be viewed completely from the park, especially on the bridge crossing Symphony Lake. The towers are built to hold offices and entering inside them is prohibited as they are just for those who are working inside and also hold an access card. However, visitors can instead get a ticket to climb up to the observation deck and enjoy the breathtaking views of Kuala Lumpur city.

The Twin Towers bridge is known as Skybridge. Many people feel like they’re floating in the sky even though they’re actually standing on something. But they don’t have to worry as the bridge has very strong supports and they can stand there as long as you want, gazing at the magnificent view of Kuala Lumpur. The clear glass windows allow them to see the details of the twin skyscrapers architecture, regardless of haze which is currently a common situation in Kuala Lumpur because of the high population and air pollution from the massive amount of vehicles. Visitors can also bring home some merchandise from the gift shop just to keep them reminisced of the magnificent and beautiful Petronas Twin Towers.

As mentioned before, Symphony Lake is another unique thing of KLCC. The main reason why people must wait at the fountain is because of something that happens sharp at 8PM. The lake is named this way because of the musical fountain; a show where the water and lights of the fountain dance along with music playing in the background. It plays at 8PM, 9PM and 10PM every night. This spectacular fountain has enticed many visitors and it is suggested for them to bring along a video camera because taking only pictures won’t be that satisfying.

Instead, if the visitors prefer live shows and musicals on a stage, there is a concert hall nearby; Dewan Filharmornik or Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. They can check the posters and the board for upcoming scheduled concerts and performances. The concert halls, which were built to resemble the traditional shoe-box shape of the 19th century European concert halls, are amazingly huge and can fit approximately 1000 audiences. The sounds that come from these halls are kind to the ears, and stimulating to the senses. These beautiful halls have been the venue for many famous orchestral artists, foreign and local, to perform their musical talents and plays.

KLCC is designed to be the heart of Kuala Lumpur city and it is built to become a multipurpose development area that attracts travelers from many countries, and also local. Therefore, it is indeed a perfect place for people to spend the day as they won’t find another place like this anywhere else.
